Removal
NOTE: The starter is located on the left side of the engine, mounted on the engine flywheel housing.
STEP 1
Put master disconnect switch in OFF position.


STEP 2
Remove air cleaner and air cleaner bracket.


STEP 3

Remove acorn nut (1), nut (2), and washer (3) securing cover (4) to starter. Remove cover.

STEP 4
Remove nut and washer securing cables to starter B stud (5). Identify, tag, and disconnect the two cables from B stud.


STEP 5
Identify and tag rear chassis harness wire (6) connected to starter solenoid terminal. Disconnect wire from terminal.


STEP 6
Support starter and remove bolts and washers securing starter to engine. Remove starter.


Installation
STEP 7
Position and support starter on engine. Install washers and bolts to secure starter. Tighten bolts to a torque of 44 to 54 Nm (32 to 40 lb-ft).


STEP 8
Connect rear chassis harness wire (6) to starter solenoid terminal following tag installed during removal. Remove and discard tag.


STEP 9
Connect two cables to starter B stud (5) following tags installed during removal. Install nut and washer to secure cable terminals to B stud. Remove and discard tags from cables.


STEP 10
Put cover (4) on starter. Install washer (3), nut (2),and acorn nut (1) to secure cover.


STEP 11
Install air cleaner bracket and air cleaner.


STEP 12
Put master disconnect switch in ON position.

Procedures:
(1) Remove the harness.
(2) Fix the fuel inlet connector of injector with wrench,loosen the injection pipe nut and remove the injection pipe.

(3) Fully press the pin at the top injector and remove the leak-off hose.
(4) Remove the connector of main harness and the injector connector.
(5) Loosen the nozzle gland bolt, and remove the injector together with the nozzle gland using the injector puller.
(6) Remove the gasket at injector inserting port in cylinder head.
(7) Install the protection cap to the injector immediately after the removal to avoid dust entering.
Note: Wait 30 seconds or more after the engine stop to start the injector removal job.

Check as follows:
1 Disconnect the Optimized Idle Thermostat connector.

2 Inspect the sensor harness for bent, spread, or corroded pins.
2a If damage is found, repair as necessary.
2b If no damage is found, Go to step 3.

3Turn the key to the on position, engine off.

4Measure the voltage between pin 5 of the Optimized Idle Thermostat harness side connector, and ground. Is the voltage within 1.5 volts of battery voltage.

4a Yes, Go to step 5.
4b No, repair the circuit short between pin 5 of the Optimized Idle Thermostat connector and ignition feed.


5.Measure the resistance between pin 6 of Optimized Idle Thermostat harness side connector and ground. Is the resistance greater than 5 ohms?

5a Yes, repair the open circuit between pin 6 of Optimized Idle Thermostat connector and vehicle ground.
5b No, replace the Optimized Idle Thermostat.

Yanmar Diagnostic Tool Adapter



Procedures:

(1) Swing the upperstructure so that the drain plug 2 of hydraulic oil reservoir 1 can position in the middle of the
tracks. Then lower the bucket to the ground and stop the engine.


(2) Open the engine hood rear cover 3 and remove it.
(3) Disconnect the battery negative cable 5 from the battery 4.
(4) Loosen three cap screws 6 to remove the side cover 7.
(5) Remove the bottom cover 8 and put an oil container under the drain plug 2 of the hydraulic oil reservoir.
(6) Remove the drain plug 2 to drain hydraulic oil. (Q\'ty: 10 Gal(38L)) At this time, loosening or removing the filler cap 9 make oil
draining easier.
(7) Open the bonnet B 10.
(8) Open the bonnet R 11.
(9) Prepare a container for coolant draining.
(10) Remove the drain plug 12 to drain coolant. (Q\'ty: 1.8 Gal((6.7L))
At this time, loosening or removing the radiator cap 13 make oil draining smoother
(11) Remove the bonnet B 10.
(12) Remove the bonnet R 11.
(13) Remove the canopy roof 14 and the canopy pole 15.
(14) Remove the floor step 16.
(15) Disconnect the engine speed control cable from the engine.
(16) Disconnect the pilot oil hoses 18 from the control valve.
Note :
• Mark each hose to reinstall on the original position.
• Plug each hose end and fittings on the control valve against dust
(17) Open the front cover 19 of the seat mount to disconnect two wiring couplers 20 and 21.
(18) Remove the seat mount 22.
Note :
Use sling belt, hook and hoist with enough strength and capacity to lift it up.
(19) Disconnect hydraulic hoses from the hydraulic pump.

Note :
• Mark each hose to reinstall on the original position.
• Plug each hose end and fittings on the control valve against dust.
(20) Remove the rear weight 23.
(21) Loosen two hose clips 24 to disconnect the hose (oil cooler - reservoir) from the reservoir.
(22) Loosen two hose clips 24 to disconnect the hose (oil cooler - swing motor) from the swing motor.
(23) Remove five cap screws to remove the engine subassembly 27.
Note :
Use sling belt, hook and hoist with enough strength and capacity to lift it up.
(24) Loosen the hose clip 70 28 to disconnect the air intake hose A 29 from the air intake manifold.Yanmar Smart Assist SA-Direct 2023
(25) Loosen the two hose clips 32 to disconnect the upper hose 30 and the lower hose 31 from the engine.
(26) Loosen four nuts to remove exhaust gas tube 33 from the engine.
(27) Loosen four cap screws to remove exhaust gas silencer 34 from the engine.
(28) Loosen two cap screws to remove the silencer bracket 35.
(29) Remove the silencer bracket 36 from the engine mount.
(30) Remove the duct 37, radiator 38 and shroud 39.
(31) Loosen four cap screws 40 to remove the vibroisolating rubbers.
(32) Remove the engine by lifting.
Note :
Always keep balance of the engine when lifting it.

Instructions
To view the data in an Excel spreadsheet:
Open the Microsoft Excel program.
Select “Open” from the File menu. The Open dialog box is displayed.
Select “All Files (*.*)” from the File type drop down.
Locate the data file. The path is shown in the File text box of the Data Log Viewer screen.
Double-click on the file. The Text Import Wizard opens.
Select the Delimited radio button and click Next>.
Check Comma from the Delimiters area and make sure no other delimiter is checked.
Click Finish. The data is displayed in an Excel spreadsheet.

Instructions:
1. Drain all coolant and engine oil. Check engine oil for metal contaminates.
2. Remove turbocharger oil inlet line and oil return line.
Remove turbocharger and air pipe to EGR cooler assembly.
3. Remove fan pulley and thermostat housing assembly.
4. Remove coolant pump assembly from timing gear cover.
NOTE: DO NOT damage option code label (if equipped),when removing rocker arm cover.
NOTE: The vent hose should be disconnected from the vent elbow. The vent elbow should not be removed from the rocker arm cover unless the intent is to replace the elbow assembly.
5. Remove breather hose from rocker arm cover.
Remove rocker arm cover.
6. Remove electronic injector wiring harness.
7. Remove rocker arm assembly and push rods. Identify parts for reassembly.
8. Remove front crankshaft pulley and damper assembly.
9. Remove fuel injection lines, fuel connectors, and injection nozzles.
10. Remove engine oil filter, filter base, and valve housing
11. Remove fuel filter and mounting base. Remove high pressure fuel pump gear cover and remove injection pump.
12. Remove high pressure common rail.
13. Remove engine oil cooler assembly
14. Remove front and rear exhaust manifolds and EGR cooler and valve assembly.
15. Remove air intake manifold.
NOTE: ALWAYS bolt down liners when rotating engine flywheel with cylinder head removed.
16. Remove cylinder head with assembly. Remove head gasket.
17. Revolve engine on repair stand and remove engine oil pump assembly.
18. Remove front timing gear cover.
19. Revolve engine to vertical position. Remove pistons and connecting rods. Identify for reassembly. Perform bearing-to-journal wear checks with PLASTIGAGE�.
20. On SAE No. 3 flywheel housings, remove flywheel housing and then remove flywheel.
21. On SAE No. 1 and 2 flywheel housings, remove flywheel and then remove flywheel housing.
22. Remove main bearing caps and remove crankshaft.Perform bearing-to-journal wear checks with PLASTIGAGE�.
23. Remove camshaft and cam followers. Identify for reassembly.
24. Revolve engine to horizontal position, remove liners, O-rings, and packings. Mark liners for reassembly in same bore from which removed.
25. Remove piston cooling orifices from cylinder block.
26. Remove any sensors/gauges, cylinder block plugs and engine serial number plate, if block is to be put in a “hot tank

The ESP Lamp Test is available on:
✓ Bendix EC-80 ESP/ESP braking systems
This tests if the dashboard Enhanced Stability Program (ESP) lamp is functioning properly by commanding the lamp to change status. User must verify that the dashboard ESP lamp changes to match the test commands.
1. Select the ESP Lamp Test and press Enter or the Start button.
2. The test dialog will be displayed.

3. Click Reset ECU to cause the ESP lamp to turn off and on. This will also reset the braking system which can be observed by audible clicking from the brake modulator valves. Compare the ESP Lamp status reported by the ECU to the dashboard ESP lamp.
4. When done, press the Exit button to return to the test selection dialog.

In order for Caterpillar Electronic Technician to work with the Communication Adapter II, the settings must be changed to select the Communication Adapter II as the Communication Interface Device:

Preparations:
CAT ET 2023A
CAT Adapter 3

Steps:
Step 1 Start Cat Electronic Technician.
Step 2 Click the “Stop Connect” button when it appears.
Step 3 Select the “Utilities” menu.
Step 4 Choose “Preferences > Modify...”.
Step 5 Click the “Communications” tab.
Step 6 Change the Communication Interface Device to “Caterpillar Comm
Adapter II (Dual Data Link/Serial IP)” and click “OK”.
Step 7 Select the appropriate COM port (for example, “COM1”, “COM2”, etc).
This application firmware only supports serial communications.

Procedures:
NOTE!
Change the hydraulic oil filter after the first 50 operating hours, thereafter every 500 operating hours.

1.Carefully clean the hydraulic oil tank cap (1) and the area around it.
2.Loosen and screw out the oil tank cap (1) with a suitable tool.
Notice:
Take care of filters, oils and liquids in an environmentally safe way.

3.Remove the oil filter (1).

4.Insert a new filter element.
NOTE!
Make sure that the filter element is fitted correctly in it�s seat.

4. Operate each control lever for the boom, arm, bucket and swivel to full stroke.
5. Operate the travel lever, blade lever, swing pedal, standby pedal and service port pedal each to full stroke.
