About Me:	I am a dedicated caregiver to my elderly Mom, with whom I am co-resident. I used to be an artist, specialising in miniature paintings, until osteoarthritis forced me to retire from the work I loved. Beautiful pictures still take up a huge place in my life, as I now spend time with the gorgeous walls I find around the Web. I love to view and share the ones that are most special to me. None of my uploads are my own...all are found on public domain and for sharing only. I adore animals of all kinds...but most especially cats; big and small. I have a passion for the plight of Africa's endangered species, but also for others...particularly tigers and elephants. Lavender and lilies are my most favorite flowers.

Interests:	I love movies across a wide range of genres, and I have a substantial library of favorite ones on DVD.

Favorite Music:	I have no music that I can regard as fave; my taste in music is very diverse...from Rap to opera and classical.

Favorite Books:	I love to read. I am a literary proofreader by profession, so all my spare time is dedicated to this.

Favorite Movies:	Too many to list here, but I love Zac Efron...17 again...loved that one! I do really enjoy good quality disaster movies.

Hello everyone,

It is so good to be able to write a greeting to all of you!

I had a major life changing event this month. Many of you know that on December 9th I had a massive heart attack. I am so glad to be alive and able to tell you that.

I will never be the same again. I am not talking about what I went through or the 2 stents in my heart. I am talking about mentally. You can't go through something like this without rethinking your priorities and what is most important to you in life...

I won't tell you about every priority that I've set for myself, but there are a couple that you will want to know. One is that I am more committed to Desktop Nexus than ever. I still love and care about this website, in spite of the spam and neglect. You, my friends, make this website a joy to be on. I will do what I can to battle spam and stay in touch with all of you.

I can probably explain the most important priority in my life by talking about my December wallpapers. They are in this post in the exact order that I uploaded them. imo these wallpapers are an accurate description of my life so far this month.

"Christmas Ribbon Dance" is a simple light hearted Abstract I completed about 3 days before I went through the heart attack. (I also had a funny one to go along with it, of a somewhat psychedelic poinsettia. I never finished that one. I'll probably upload it next Christmas.)

I created "A Stained Glass Christmas" in the spirit of, "Oh gosh! I'm barely going to have any Christmas wallpapers to upload this month! I've got to get busy creating something!" Well, I starting having so much fun manipulating my stained glass window photo that I forgot to worry about the number of wallpapers that I might or might not upload. It felt so good to take my time and simply create something intricrate and pretty!

"A Wonderful Gift" has two hearts in it's design. (At first glance they may not be easy to see.) In the description of this wallpaper I've written about some of the things I went through during my heart attack. I did not go through it alone! God was with me all the way through...

The last wallpaper in my post, "O Holy Night" is the reason that I didn't get to upload these wallpapers until Christmas Day. (As I write these words, it is 3am where I live, and yes, it is indeed Christmas!) The other 3 wallpapers were ready to go up a couple of days ago. But I felt like something was missing... and after some soul searching I realized that I wanted to create a wall that told a story... the Christmas story. I hope you like it! Of all of these wallpapers, this is the one that I'd love for you to take a close look at, in part because I put so much work into it. I think I spent at least 16 hours on it! (I had that kind of time on my hands because my cardiologist didn't want me to go back to work or drive for a couple of weeks.)

PS. There is one Desktop Nexus member who is no longer with us. Blueangels1015/Judy went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, December 19th. Grandma Gingerbread/Joyce let me know this just today through a PM. (For anyone who doesn't know, Grandma Gingerbread/Joyce is Judy's sister.)

Joyce is extremely busy right now with funeral arrangements and many other things that must be taken care of when someone passes away. She told me that she would be on DN sporadically for awhile because of that. Here is a link to her profile page in case you would like to send her a sympathy card. (I can only imagine how rough it must be to lose a loved one at this time of year.)

Hello Everybody,

Merry Christmas!

So many of you have already posted wonderfully cheery Christmas greetings on my page already... for which I sincerely thank you!

I haven't been able to do any Christmas posting until now because my life has been bananas! Actually, I've been feeling a lot like a banana lately.

As many of you know, I work at a laser engraving shop where my daughter is my boss. (Yes, she's been going nuts too...) What's happened is that we've been bombarded with all kinds of large orders. One company that sends us 4,000 to 6,000 parts to engrave each month decided this was the right month to send us 15,000 parts. This is great for our business, of course, but oh, the timing!

I've been working many extra hours. My eating is rather off kilter; I'm beginning to believe that candy canes are one of the basic food groups. (The canes that haven't made it into my stomach are handed out to customers.) I still don't have my Christmas shopping finished. My Christmas wallpapers never really got finished either. I was hoping to get at least a dozen uploaded. Not anymore... looks like these 5 are going to be it.

Oh well, the rest can wait until next year. I've had a lot of fun with the ones that have made it up, with one exception. (I'm not going to tell you which one it is, but I will tell you that it had me laughing hysterically while my husband rolled his eyes up, because it gave me so much trouble!)

Thank you so much for the love, care, and patience you've shown me over these months. You guys are the greatest, and I'm so glad I know you all!

PS. Holidays can be a challenge for anyone who's missing loved ones. I still miss my Dad who I lost in 2014. I miss someone who's cut off all ties with our family. I miss Betsey Butler, Kate Hatheway, and Puppydawg. I miss many people, who are no longer active on DN. And I know I'm not the only one.

But I am so thankful for those of us who are still around! Thank you for the joy and comfort that you give me, just by being here. We are all in this together --and you are the best!

Hi Everybody,

I hope that you've had a nice Summer (or a nice Winter if you live south of the Equator!)

It's been so long since I've gone profile hopping, almost 2 months! Time really got away from me... Part of the reason is that my husband and I finally went on a real vacation for the first time in years. Yes, we've done some weekend getaways, but you can only drive so far in one weekend... and you have to allow time to get back. lol

We ended up driving through the states of Ohio and Indiana. We deliberately chose country roads. We stopped at a lot of antique stores, among other things, and got to go to a County Fair in Ohio. A lot of the photos I took will end up on DN sooner or later, especially Cow photos for the Cows group!

The wallpapers that I uploaded today, however, are from my home state of Michigan. I took nearly 40 pictures of goldenrod! It was hard to choose the ones to upload!

At this point you are probably wondering why in the world I took so many photos of one kind of plant. Yes it's a beautiful plant, but 40 photos of it? Well-- the reason I did is--- THE BUGS! Not only do many varieties of insect love goldenrod... but they are beautiful as well.

I have only one regret about uploading these photos. I wish that I had brightened up the photos more so the insects would show up better in the small thumbnails. Oh well... at least it's easier to see them when they are enlarged.

Hi Everyone,

It's been a busy, but happy Summer for me-- which is the reason that I may not have been around to visit you for awhile. Well... mostly happy. Car problems that were not cheap kept me from seeing my 5 month old granddaughter for a couple of weeks, but at least the car is finally working again.

My job has been keeping me busy also. We are engraving a lot of Stainless Steel mugs right now. We have one type where each shrink wrapped mug must be unwrapped by hand before it is engraved. It's time consuming, and my hands are getting a little sore... but hey... it's a living! I can listen to any kind of music that I want to while I unwrap them too.

I try to upload at least 5 wallpapers a month. I uploaded one wall on July 4th. I tried to get more up here during the month, but things kept coming up. Finally, today, July 31st, I rushed these 5 wallpapers up here. I got them uploaded with less than 3 hours to spare; August 1st starts on Desktop Nexus at 8pm my time. (Michigan, USA) It feels great to have beaten the clock! I hope to get many more walls uploaded during the month of August, because I have a backlog now...stay tuned! lol

As you can see, I've got 3 Cows Group walls up in this bunch; and 2 of them are especially silly... If you aren't a member of the Cows Group yet, you should check it out. There is such an incredible variety of cow wallpapers in it scenic, unusual, cute, humorous, etc... I think this group has become one of the most interesting (and fun!) ones on Desktop Nexus!

I hope that you are having a great Summer also, or a great Winter, depending on where you live!

PS. PUPPYDAWG/ROGER news is that there isn't that much right now. He is doing better, but has an annoying, chronic cough. I do think he could use your prayers. He wants to come back to Desktop Nexus, but he needs a new computer to do so. He has enough money, but he isn't very mobile. Hopefully, one of his relatives will be able to help him out with that soon. Believe me, he misses everybody!

Hi to all of my friends & fans! I hope you are doing well and enjoying life on DN as well as in your own homes.

In January the weather in my area was on the frigidy-cold side. In other words, normal. I wanted something on my wallpaper screen that looked a lot warmer than I was feeling-- so I created the 3 wallpapers below. But I didn't get to upload them when I planned to.

Now that February is almost over, the weather has been well... weird. We've had everything here from extremely cold days, to days so mild I've almost been fooled into thinking Spring has come.

I know better though. I live in Michigan, the Great Lakes State of Unpredictable Weather. I'm convinced I'll find plenty of good use for these warm hued wallpapers before the Winter really ends.

Perhaps you will also! Hot Cocoa & marshmallows anybody?

To my friends & everyone else on Desktop Nexus,

I am the bearer of some sad news.

Betsey Butler, a member of Desktop Nexus since September of 2008, passed away on November 20th, 2016. I did not find this out until last Sunday, January 22nd.

Even if you did not know Betsey, please read on. I have something to say that you may never have thought of before; something that could help you and many others.

Most, if not all of us, have made some good friends on Desktop Nexus. Some of those friends may mean so much to you that you've even exchanged email addresses with them and have become pen pals, (or perhaps I should say email pals.)

Betsey and I were email pals. We wrote back & forth on a regular basis. Often it was just short notes. We had days where we wrote each other as much as 10 times. Sometimes 3 or 4 days would go by before we wrote again, but we always kept in touch.

On October 24, 2016, I wrote Betsey that I was about to go to Canada for the first time in 25 years, and that I'd let her know all about it when I got back. She wrote back;

"Have a great day!"

That was the last time that I ever heard from her.

I kept writing her, and got more and more concerned when I didn't get any replies. Betsey had dealt with some health problems, i.e. she had what she called a "small stroke" and had to go live in an assisted living center for awhile, but then she got her own apartment again. I began to wonder if she'd had another stroke and was back in assisted living with no computer access or something. It never occurred to me that she might have passed away.

I finally found out that she had from another one of her friends who was just as shocked as I was about it. My friend read it on her Facebook timeline. No details were given.

Whoever may still be reading this;

Please, if at all possible give a trusted friend or family member access to your Desktop Nexus account; your Face book account; your email account. You matter. People care for you. People will notice when you are missing.

Please have someone lined up to notify people, just in case you leave this earth. None of us knows the day or the hour when that might happen... If you pass on, people will wonder and eventually worry about what happened to you.

One Desktop Nexus member who did think to do that was Sparky/Kate Hatheway. Her sisters were able to access her Desktop Nexus account and let everybody know. That was such a wonderful to do...

I wrote to Betsey for 14 weeks without hearing from her. It hurts to realize now that I was writing to someone who would never read what I had to say.

I have been in mourning since last Sunday when I found out. That is why I've been wearing this wallpaper of Betsey's on my profile for the past week. (By the time you read this, I'll be wearing one of the one's I made for Betsey.I wish I could wear more than one wallpaper at a time!)
