oh and just to add to what I've just said; I believe that there is only one process happening across the whole of universe. That would be the process of creating stars and recycling its remnants, as these burn out and become a rock. Eventually, something may come along and smash it to smithereens and it end ups as cosmic dust, which will eventually initiate the same process of creating a new star. So, our earth is actually a dying star. Crust and magma is all that is left of it and its core, of course. That means that all planets are the same. Matter creates a star by an electromagnetic process of clumping particles to a ball like mass which will initiate a dynamo effect and the mass starts to spin. When it agglomerates enough mass, it will ignite the gas of which it is mostly made. As the star spend itself, (burns itself out and that depends on the size of a star) the star will commences to die, and eventually lose most of its magnetosphere. (i.e., Mars) Electromagnetic field is there but it keeps on shrinking in its strength and ability to shield the planet. It eventually shrinks down to the level of the surface of its core, the place where all the action is. The core is not solid but an empty space. Yes, the core is only a shell of metallic material produced by electromagnetic charges of plasma when star was born and while it functioned as a star. Boring?

Mars has never been made for human habitation and as we all know, Earth has, naturally I belong to this planet. I'm pretty sure that Mars had its poles flipped many, many times, as Earth did, cause most celestial bodies have a magnetic activity in their cores. Exceptions could be dead stars that are too small to explode and therefore turn to white, brown or red dwarfs. But I believe in electric universe theory so, stars never explode unless there's collision with another star. Magnetism comes from electric activity of a star/planet and is like a power source that can be depleted. Since all mater has electric charge in its electrons, and protons, there's always a certain amount of charge present in everything even though such star may be dead as far as being able to make new elements or radiate lot of heat. In other words, nice way of avoiding to spell out my location. Just my sense of humor.
