We all know of bad effects smoking has on our body; lung cancer, a stunted growth in an infant of a smoking mother and more. CDC goes even further stating that: "In addition to increasing your risk for heart disease, stroke, cancer, lung disease, and many other health conditions, smoking also has a negative impact on your brain." On my brain??

Wikipedia puts it this way: "Niacin, also known as nicotinic acid, is an organic compound and a form of vitamin B₃, an essential human nutrient. It can be manufactured by plants and animals from the amino acid tryptophan." Wikipedia

Mayo Clinic offers this information on importance of Niacin: "Niacin is a B vitamin that\'s made and used by your body to turn food into energy. It helps keep your nervous system, digestive system and skin healthy.

Niacin (vitamin B-3) is often part of a daily multivitamin, but most people get enough niacin from the food they eat. Foods rich in niacin include yeast, milk, meat, tortillas and cereal grains.

People use prescription niacin (Niacor, Niaspan) to help control their cholesterol.

The recommended daily amount of niacin for adult males is 16 milligrams (mg) a day and for adult women who aren\'t pregnant, 14 mg a day.

Evidence
Research on the use of oral niacin to treat specific conditions shows:

High cholesterol. Prescription niacin is used to increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol — the "good" cholesterol that helps remove low-density lipoprotein (LDL), the "bad" cholesterol, from your bloodstream. Despite niacin\'s ability to raise HDL, research suggests that niacin therapy isn\'t linked to lower rates of death, heart attack or stroke.
Niacin deficiency (pellagra). Niacin and a related nutrient called niacinamide are used to treat or prevent niacin deficiency. This condition isn\'t common in the United States.
Niacin deficiency has been linked to birth defects. A study in mice suggested that niacin supplementation during gestation prevented birth defects. Research is needed to prove a similar benefit in humans."

National Institute of Health convinces me even more of importance of Niacin for my well being. It says:

"Niacin (also known as vitamin B3) is one of the water-soluble B vitamins. Niacin is the generic name for nicotinic acid (pyridine-3-carboxylic acid), nicotinamide (niacinamide or pyridine-3-carboxamide), and related derivatives, such as nicotinamide riboside [1-3]. Niacin is naturally present in many foods, added to some food products, and available as a dietary supplement.

All tissues in the body convert absorbed niacin into its main metabolically active form, the coenzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD). More than 400 enzymes require NAD to catalyze reactions in the body, which is more than for any other vitamin-derived coenzyme [1]. NAD is also converted into another active form, the coenzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP), in all tissues except skeletal muscle [4]."

You could ask then, why had so many people in this century alone taken to smoking or chewing of a tobacco? Obvious reason is that it steadies their nerves and enables them to think clearly, to focus better. Yeast, milk, meat, tortillas and cereal grains may not be available during the years of war and, in times of peace well, most adults don\'t like drinking milk or, consuming yeasty products. Besides, nicotine works faster than food. The harm is in smoking not in nicotine. When this substance is administered into a body as a medicine, it has wonderful results on one\'s mental wellbeing. Mental illness is pathological, not psychological in nature as contemporary psychiatry maintains. The subject of mental health has been addressed poorly and this is why we have mental illnesses with us to this day, despite the plethora of available drugs from pharma industry.

Our modern medicine could have seen the benefits of tobacco plant and should have included it into their repertoire of pharmaceutical products but, sadly they didn\'t and probably never will because it doesn\'t fit their theories which I think are very, very wrong. Prescription medicines have a far more dangerous side-effects on our health than does the nicotine.

CDC review of smoking on human health says: "Nicotine also activates dopamine signals, creating a pleasurable sensation. Over time, the brain begins to compensate for the increased signaling activity by reducing the number of acetylcholine receptors, she explains. This causes a nicotine tolerance, so continued and more nicotine is needed. Nicotine also stimulates the pleasure centers of the brain, mimicking dopamine, so your brain starts to associate nicotine use with feeling good."

This is a lot of bollocks. Food also gives me such pleasure.
