Did you know that a hard bump on a head may lead to a full-blown depression later on in life? I\'m sure you had a few as a child, I guess, most of us did. One survey claims that 1 in 10 Americans will have depression at some point of their life. Of course, these numbers change from year to year. What are the health experts saying on the subject?
ADAA states:
"Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older, or 18.1% of the population every year.
Anxiety disorders are highly treatable, yet only 36.9% of those suffering receive treatment.
People with an anxiety disorder are three to five times more likely to go to the doctor and six times more likely to be hospitalized for psychiatric disorders than those who do not suffer from anxiety disorders.
Anxiety disorders develop from a complex set of risk factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and life events."
And may I add; brain injuries both accidental and those self inflicted thru the substance abuse. However, there is hope. Please, consider the following material;
If you have persistent mood swings or other of these symptoms, please consider that help is available and make an appointment with your GP who will refer you to other specialist in the field of mental health.

Increased energy, activity, and restlessness Excessively high, overly good, euphoric mood Extreme irritability Racing thoughts and talking very fast, jumping from one idea to another Destructibility, inability to concentrate well Little sleep needed Unrealistic beliefs in one\'s abilities and powers Poor judgment Spending sprees A lasting period of behavior that is different from usual Increased sexual drive Abuse of drugs, particularly cocaine, alcohol, and sleeping medications Provocative, intrusive, or aggressive behavior Denial that anything is wrong
