I think everyone is aware of the disease diabetes as one member from the family might be suffering from this disease. Diabetes is a condition where people don’t produce enough insulin to meet their body’s needs and/or their cells don’t respond properly to insulin. Insulin is important because it transfers glucose into the body’s cell from the blood. The foods that people eat provide the body with glucose, which is used by the cells as a source of energy.

There are two main types of diabetes. One is diabetes mellitus and other is diabetes insipidus. Diabetes mellitus is considered as type 1 and diabetes insipidus is considered as type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is caused by a lack of insulin due to the destruction of insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. This type of diabetes typically occurs in children and young adults, though it can appear in any age. In the past, this type of diabetes was called as juvenile diabetes or insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Heredity plays a crucial role in type 1 diabetes. This type of diabetes runs in families. In this type of diabetes white blood cells attack and destroy beta cells. Environmental factors such as foods, viruses, and toxins play some role in development of type 1 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes is most commonly found in people. Type 2 diabetes is called as diabetes insipidus. This type of diabetes is caused by a combination of factors, including insulin resistance, a condition in which the body’s muscle, fat, and liver cells do not use insulin effectively. This type of diabetes is developed mostly in middle-aged or older people who are mostly overweight or obese. Experts believed that the genetic susceptibility and environmental factors are the most likely triggers of diabetes insipidus. Another type of diabetes is gestational diabetes which is caused by the hormonal changes.
