Our Story To Share - We are Rescued - For Our Dn family!

Our Mom Carmen writes Our Story - The Rescue of Picasso and Pasha!

April showers bring May flowers so the story goes.But April 2009 our neighbor George came to discover among the flower bed a mother cat with her 2 new born kittens. He decided to let them be.They were proctected from the elements & April had brought
him a homeless feline family.

George returns from the market to find trouble in the front .The kittens eyes still shut had dragged themselves to the sidewalk. Kris his neighbor explained to George that she had just started up the block when she saw one of kittens being picked up by a huge dog and was held in the dog's mouth. Kris coaxed the dog to release the kitten unharmed. The mother cat had disappeared and George began to care and bottle- feed them until they could eat on their own.The weeks flew by, the kittens getting bigger. George was really worried and he did not want to take them to our local shelter and he could not keep them much longer.

My friend Jeanie (friends for 30 years) called me. I said I would not be able to adopt for I already had two kitties but i could foster. In August 2009 we made arrangements and we alll met in Jeanies backyard. The kittens were cuddled together way in the back of the carrier. Ii gently opened the door while sitting and those warm gleaming emerald green eyes that George so often spoke of were looking right into my eyes. My heart melted and I thought gosh I can't adopt but yes I can foster them.

The kittens came home and joined me, the students and my two kitties Dulcinea and Toulouse. Weeks and months went by no luck to find an adoptive family. In February of 2011 my nephew calls that he had a co-worker that was interested in the kittens. Fear ran through me, the kittens now 9 months old, I turned and looked into their emerald green eyes and I knew at that moment I would never let them go. George's voice in my head, "Carmen I was really hoping you would take them. and so I did. I named them Pablo Picasso Azul and Pasha Coyote blue. Since this time My Dulcinea and Toulouse have gone on to heaven and sad to say that also our neighbor Georgesuffered a stroke passed on a few days before my Toulouse in sept 2011.

I am so thankful that I had the good sense to bring these rescue kitties into my home and into my heart. They are amazing kitties. Also wonderful USA ambassors kitties of good will to all international students that came to live with us.

I thank ellen for this gift for them. I share their story with hope that this may encourge someone out there to adopt or help a kitten or cat in need.
