Printing amazing 3D models requires a lot of things to go right, from a good build surface and strong adhesion to avoiding clogs and achieving vibrant colors and sharp details. It also means using high-quality filaments that work with your printer and can handle a variety of temperatures and printing speeds.

FIXDRY’s 3D Printer Filament Knob is a small device that can be placed in front of your extruder to allow you to manually control the feed. When a spool of filament runs out, it will signal the nozzle to stop, allowing you to pull in another roll with minimal fuss and no mess. This is a handy feature that can prevent costly mistakes and save you time when completing large prints.

The nozzle temperature display on the front of the machine is also very useful, allowing you to check that your nozzle is set up correctly and is operating at the correct temperature before starting a print. You can also use the display to set the nozzle temperature for your specific filament, which helps eliminate confusion over what temperature to set the machine to.

Creality’s Ender 3 series of 3D printers are well regarded by the community and have had numerous practical upgrades added by the manufacturer. For example, the XY axis belt tensioners, filament knob and toolbox on the Ender 3 Neo V2 are extremely useful features that make the machine much easier to use. The addition of a touchscreen on the Ender 3 Neo and the Ender 3 Max is an improvement, but if you’re a fan of knob control it may not be worth the upgrade cost.
