Shehla Chatoor believes in diversity. Be it in Eastern collections or Western wear, the designer believes jackets and other accessories provide consumers with an option to improvise outfits.

Boasting intricate embroideries and meticulously detailed embellishments like metal, appliquéd and woven leather, the jackets are multipurpose. Asserting that her cover-ups aren’t all winter-specific, she clarifies, “My collection is versatile enough to be worn at weddings, parties and even to red carpet events. Most of our jackets are all-season, apart from a few with fur and extensive leather details, which are winter-specific. But even with those, the fur collar can be detached and worn throughout the year.”

Having been designing Eastern jackets and capes for a couple of years now, it was her acclaimed luxury prêt collection ‘Soigne’ that made ‘Jackets by Shehla’ a happening trend.

A growing demand was the reason behind the collection of jackets, she says, “Our ‘Samsara’ capes and jackets have been hot favourites with celebrities and socialites alike. Most recently our ‘Misaki’ collection which featured cutwork and exquisite leather-basket weave jackets have had orders flooding in.”

Chatoor’s design house holds a collection of capes, jackets, crop jackets and embellished trench coats.

With local designers rarely tapping into this niche market, Chatoor aims to set a trend that exudes a timeless edge, “Our embroidered jackets are heirlooms and booked as must-haves for all upcoming wedding trousseau. Our outerwear has become a hot favourite for all fashionistas within Pakistan and abroad as unique statement pieces,” she says confidently.

Recounting her austere textile preferences, Chatoor says luxurious long-lasting fabrics are her collection staple, “I primarily use silks which I can print, dye, mould and embellish to my liking. I use leather quilting, braiding and weaving techniques along with fur. There’s also an extensive use of metal and elaborate techniques to make our jackets stand out.”

She says her surroundings are driving forces, “from places I travel to and books I read, to movies I watch. The inspiration for the jackets in ‘Misaki’ was derived from Samurai warrior armour and Japanese Byobu prints.”

The amalgamation of lush prints, elaborate embroideries and specialised techniques make her outerwear distinctive. On her devotion for crafting unique outerwear, the designer shares, “We have a lot of creative artisans and I love to create something different with them. I get a sense of pride when our clients wear them in international events and people can’t believe such craft and workmanship exists in Pakistan.”

AN East Grinstead retailer says the High Street\'s fortunes are looking up – and she wants to be part of the town\'s rebirth after her first nine months in business there.

Gill East, owner of Tomoli & Will, chose to open her second clothing store at 14 High Street in April because she saw signs the tide was beginning to turn.

And as she reaches the end of 2014, the 50-year-old former marketing executive believes people have started to see East Grinstead as a decent place to shop once again.

Gill, who lives near Handcross, said: "For me East Grinstead was perfect because it had some nice shops coming in and I wanted to be part of that; to be there at the start of its rebirth if you like.

"The feedback we got at the start was \'thank goodness you\'re not a coffee shop\' because that\'s all that seemed to be opening for a while.

"People were going to Tunbridge Wells and absolutely saying they would not shop in East Grinstead, but in the last three months especially it seems people are thinking there are some good things and nice shops in East Grinstead."

In October, Gill finally gave up a 30-year career in marketing to focus full-time on the business and ensure the East Grinstead branch is as successful as the Horsham one and the online business.

Her mother made couture dresses and her grandmother was in the rag trade, so fashion has been in the family for years.

Two of her three sons, for whom the shop is named – Thomas, Oliver and William (Tomoli & Will) – make up half of her part-time staff.

Thomas, 21, and Oliver, 18, work at both of the stores. William is 15 so not yet old enough to work in the shops.

Clothing stores in particular have identified East Grinstead as the ideal place to open this year. Cobalt, which brings women\'s fashion from Europe to the UK, opened in November at the intersection of the High Street and London Road.

And on November 28 – known as Black Friday because retailers across the country promoted special offers – another clothing store, White Stuff, began trading on London Road.

Carol Everest, East Grinstead Business Association administrator, agreed the town is on the up but doesn\'t believe things were ever that bad.

She said: "Even during the recession things in East Grinstead were much better than most towns in the UK.

"2014 has been absolutely brilliant and I believe there are still a number of things under negotiation.

"There are more people visiting the town with the Bluebell Railway, and now there are more people stopping in East Grinstead.

"I believe there are also plans to start a \'station to statue\' walk [to the Sir Archibald McIndoe statue at the top of the High Street]."

Louis Vuitton\'s creative director — tapped Bruce Weber, Annie Leibovitz and Juergen Teller to photograph Jennifer Connelly for the brand\'s spring 2015 advertising campaign.

Entitled "Series 2," Ghesquière unveiled the campaign\'s first images on his Instagram page on Monday. The spring campaign has not yet been released in its entirety, according to Fashionista. Connelly was one of the designer\'s longtime muses at Balenciaga.

The images are beautiful so far, but the "formula" could become dull if it continues for too long, according to Fashionista.

Louis Vuitton\'s creative director enlisted the same three photographers as for "Series 1," his first campaign for the brand. Models Charlotte Gainsbourg, Freja Beha Erichsen, Liya Kebede and Jean Campbell fronted the fall 2014 campaign.

It consists of a curated selection of pictures that were inspired by Ghesquière\'s debut fall collection for the French fashion house. Each of the photographers were given free reign to interpret the collection and apply their unique visual signature.

Steven Meisel used to shoot Louis Vuitton\'s campaigns when Marc Jacobs helmed the label, but Ghesquière has brought in new talent now that he\'s in charge. Jacobs left the brand back in 2013 to focus on his eponymous brand.

In related news, Internet marketer Stylophane awarded Louis Vuitton the top spot on its monthly list of most engaged fashion brands back in early November.

This recognition is due to the brand\'s overall amount of "post likes" for October. Louis Vuitton registered 1.23 million likes on its posts throughout the month.

"You don\'t want to post too much because, after a while, people stop paying attention and might even un-follow you," Alex Mendoza, Stylophane partner, told WWD when the list was revealed.

"There are limits to how many times you want to hear even from a brand you love — between 20 and 40 seems about right," he added.

Best friends Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne have reportedly gotten tattoos dedicated to each other. According to the latest reports, both girls have taken their newly formed friendship to a higher level by getting a tattoo of their initials.

Daily Star reported that the top models have gotten themselves inked in matching tattoos to show their devotion to each other. According to the report, the duo has recently visited Shamrock Social Club in Los Angeles to get a small tattoo etched on their lower shoulder.

A source close to the girls has revealed that Delevingne had a \'C and K\' while Jenner opted for \'K and C\'. Both tattoos are reportedly quite similar with the alphabets twirling around each other in old Italic style. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, and no photographs of the tattoos have been revealed.

The 22-year-old English fashion model Delevingne is known for her love for tattoos. She has gotten inked several times, which included a lion figure on her finger and a very recently done bee design on one of her knuckles,as told by Twist Magazine. However, this is definitely the first time for the 19-year-old reality TV star and present face of Estee Lauder to get inked.

Jenner and Delevingne\'s friendship is reportedly getting more intimate each passing day. As reported earlier, Delevingne will soon move in with Jenner to become her flatmate. The two have befriended each other at the Chanel Metiers d\'Art show while modelling for the designer Karl Lagerfeld for the Chanel fashion show this year.

The two top models often reportedly hang out together. A few days back, the two were spotted getting out of Taylor Swift\'s house after a fun filled party night. Daily Star is also claiming that these two young girls often spend time at pop star Justin Bieber\'s place to party until wee hours of the morning.

Although Delevingne has neither confirmed nor objected to any statement regarding her sexuality, she often gets linked romantically to stars of both sexes. Her reportedly most controversial relationship was with Michelle Rodriguez, but the two reportedly distanced themselves from each other in May. Daily Mail has reported that the pair were spotted kissing passionately in public during a vacation in Mexico in March . Delevingne is also targeted on social media sites, such as Twitter, due to her sexual preference by her fans.

We look at the most common mistakes that can add years to your appearance.

It\'s easy to forget that your make-up should evolve as we age. Choosing the wrong shades, products or simply making mistakes during the application of cosmetics can make people look older than they really are. There\'s no point spending a fortune on age-defying lotions and potions if you then undo the good work with the wrong type of make-up.

Here are some of the most common blunders people make when it comes to cosmetics.

Firstly, make sure your foundation matches your skin colour. It\'s something we hear over and over again, but people still choose a shade that disconnects the face from the neck.

Wearing a hue that is too pale will make skin seem unhealthy and add years to your appearance. Anything too dark will fail to highlight your features and leave your complexion looking dull.

Applying foundation, concealer or eyeshadow too heavily and failing to blend it in often magnifies wrinkles. The same is true for pressed powder, which absorbs moisture in the skin and can be drying as well as ageing.

Always moisturise and apply a primer first to hydrate and ensure make-up stays in place.

If your skin is in good condition it might be better to avoid heavy powders and foundation and instead opt for a CC or BB cream, or tinted moisturiser for a more natural look.

Blusher is another product that can age you if used incorrectly. Again, you must choose the right shade as anything too subtle can make you look washed out. Brown shades are often too harsh and being heavy-handed with bronzers can lead to older-looking skin. Try a natural colour that complements your skin tone. Women with fair or medium tones should stick to rosy pinks and peaches, while darker skin tones suit coral and berry shades. Always apply blusher at the top of the cheek to highlight the cheekbone and give a pop of youthful colour.

Lips are another big giveaway as we age as they can lose definition. Darker shades of lipstick may make your pout look less plump and smaller, thus adding years to your look. If you want to wear plum shades, try a glossy finish to give lips a boost. For youthful-looking lips, choose shimmery pastel tones of nude, pink, coral or peach and remember that less is more.

If your eyebrows are looking patchy, invest in a pencil or gel in a couple of shades lighter than your natural colour and fill in the spaces. Sparse brows can add years to your appearance, while well-defined eyebrows frame your face.

Finally, apply eyeliner on the top lash line as it will open your eyes and make you look younger. Avoid heavy flicks, apply as closely to your lash line as possible and opt for a softer brown over harsh black kohl.
