Pets brought in from abroad must be quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks unless they are brought into Taiwan from a non-rabies area, and then they will be tracked for 1 year. Going abroad is much simpler than returning to China.
Because Taiwan is a non-rabies-affected area, almost every country does not need to be quarantined, provided that complete vaccinations are done.

(1) Two weeks before entry, the applicant must apply to the Hsinchu Branch of the Commodity Inspection Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs for approval.
Those imported from rabies-affected areas should apply to the Hsinchu branch, and those imported from non-epidemic areas should apply to the Chung Cheng International Airport Office of the Hsinchu branch.
(2) The documents to be attached when submitting the application are as follows: a. A copy of the health certificate issued by the medical doctor issued by the government quarantine institution going abroad, which must indicate:
breed/coat color/sex/age, date of rabies vaccine injection and type of vaccine. b. Four 4×6-inch full-body color photos of the pet. c. A copy of the applicant\'s passport or ID card. d. Application.
(3) The effective period of rabies preventive injection is 30 days after the injection.
(4) When importing pets, the original animal quarantine certificate of the government of the exporting country and the original approval letter of the Hsinchu branch should be attached,

(5) Those who do not attach the original copy of the animal quarantine certificate of the exporting country may be punished for returning or even culling and burning, so they have to pay attention.
(6) After the imported people from the rabies endemic area have been checked and matched, the applicant shall provide transportation and be escorted by the Hsinchu branch to be sent to Zhongxing University Livestock Hospital for isolation and quarantine for 21 days, but the isolation time can be extended if necessary.
(7) After the quarantine period expires, the applicant shall apply to the Zhongzheng Airport Office of Hsinchu Branch for release.
(8) The animal quarantine certificate of the exporting country of pets imported from non-rabies endemic areas must be marked: a.
The pets are in good health and have not been infected with rabies. b. There have been no rabies cases in the exporting country in the past 6 months. c.
The pet was born or raised in the exporting country for more than 6 months.
(9) Pets imported from non-rabies endemic areas will be released after passing the quarantine inspection.
However, if any suspicious is found in clinical inspection or document review, they should be kept for inspection or sent to isolation and quarantine.
(10) Imported dogs and cats from non-endemic areas are deemed to be imported from rabies-affected areas.
