Indeed an interesting debate . I respect that many people are using monitors with a 1920x1080 resolution. If I could cater to them I would. The problem is try going on any anime image website and finding a quality hd image that is approx 1900 pixels wide, it's extremely hard. In fact some of the images I use are around 1200 and I have to resize them the extra 200 just to meet 1440x900. That bit of quality loss/blur does annoy me. If I'm lucky I find an image around 1500 wide which is perfect to scale down but can you imagine scaling it up by 400, it would ruin it. Ofcourse I save my jpeg's at maximum quality, I am a web designer as well as graphic designer after all. Images with high resolutions may be easy to find if you're talking about photography but believe me for anime it's very difficult. That is why I settled for 1440 x 900...

Thanks for the comment on my wall. Yes my walls are widescreen. Lol, what do you mean old? 1440 x 900 is rather common, in fact it's the 4th most common as of January this year. I'm using a new laptop with 1366 x 768 which crops it perfectly. It's difficult to find images larger than that without compromising the quality.

There is a new anime Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dō Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui long name i know but its really good it is not on dvd or any thing there still on the manga but you should check it out
