Hi Dev, hope you enjoy your weekend. Just wanted to say this; be careful about current frenzy with 'black life matter' protests. They are not who they profess to be..., they are too political to be truly concerned about anyone else. These are mostly white people who are angry with this world and its system and are using African Americans as their platform to stir up the masses to anarchy. They are dangerous to society and it should be made illegal in every country for them to gather in large numbers. I'm serious. The racism tag is just a front. They are anarchists with political agenda that would benefit, guess whom, only them. Do not support them unless of course you want the same as they do, a lawless country.

"I don't think that calling it a "culture of bias" is quite correct.

The problem is simple. Cops are human, with human instincts. If they encounter anyone who exhibits qualities (real or perceived) that indicate they are a higher threat than normal the cops fight or flight system is engaged. They're heart rate speeds up, their brain excretes adrenaline, their reflexes are faster. In short...they become trigger happy. Not in an racist fit...but simply because they don't want to die.

The simple fact that has been shown statistically is that men, and especially black men are more likely to be involved in violent crime and have an illegal weapon. You can find these in the statistics on the Department of Justice website. Cops are aware of these statistic (including black cops). According to the Dept of Justice website, historically about 1/2 of all cops killed were killed by black men, this is disproportionately high considering black men make up loss than 10% of the total population. COPS KNOW THIS. It means statistically, each time they encounter a black man, they are about 7x more likely to die, then with other people on average. This is the reason black cops kill black men in similar numbers to white cops. Cops just don't want to die, it doesn't matter what color they are.

It's definitely not fair to black men...but rioting and making cops even more fearful is NOT the answer.

This is why the "Black Lives Matter" movement has back-fired so colossally. It's caused a few black men to take up weapons against cops and kill them in cold blood. Which has done nothing more than put cops on edge even more than they were to begin with. It's exasperated the problem. This is why parents (all parents black or white) need to teach their kids to simply listen to cops. If the cop says "show your hands"...then freaking SHOW YOUR HANDS. (Obviously the cops is scared and he's not sure you have a weapon).

I'm white, but when I'm pulled over I always put my hands at the top of my steering wheel to the left where the cop can see them immediately. I listen to their commands, in short...anything to let them know that I'm not a threat to them. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't do this...but most especially if you're black.

I know there are a few racist cops, but I don't think racism is really a factor in cops shooting black men. COPS just don't want to die, and if they perceive danger to themselves, they are more likely to shoot. It's simple."

This case could be different. It looked intentional but looks can be deceiving. Would you like to be a cop and deal with violent men every day of your working life?
