The Portrait
[U][B]The Portrait[/B][/U]

There I stood and stared intently
At this old picture here before me
Someone’s portrait in the attic
I hadn’t known that it was there

I was drawn deep into his eyes
The subtle structure of his face
How those features seemed to woo me
In that small and dusty space

His expression appeared thoughtful
Carved upon a chiselled jaw line
I sensed unease in his demeanor
From the endurance of a lifetime

Who was this graceful gentleman?
Why was he in this place?
Once loved by many I have no doubt
Now simply a mysterious face
