A lot of people are building careers online. Even before working at home was a thing, a lot of people are very much invested in online working. Even more nowadays due to the fact that a lot of businesses are giving out work to their employees at home. That being said, if you are interested in joining the online workforce, then you can pretty much do so. Like any social media site, you have to make sure that your profile is suitable and attractive to potential clients everywhere, and here’s how you can do it.

What you can do to make sure that your profile is good

1. The first thing that you have to do is to make sure you list your employment history in a clean manner. When you’re online, you don’t need to list of all it. Clients may not be interested to know that you worked as a bag boy at a grocery for six months. Just list down the important jobs that you have that you feel that will land you a job online.

2. It also helps if you list your academic achievements. While the online work market doesn’t require everybody to be a college degree holder, it can be a bonus for you when clients see that you have a good educational level.

3. Moving on to your skills and it would help if you can list those skills that matter and are helpful in the online field. Your skill of being able to run at a fast speed may not be necessary. Talk about your skills like being an expert at social media or even how fast you can type on a keyboard.

4. Let’s move on to your description. Don’t try to make it sound too impressive and most importantly not too long. Clients will get bored if you put a long description about yourself. Keep it moderate but filled with information.

5. Have at least a presentable-looking picture of yourself. This isn’t a social media account where you can just post a picture on your profile in casual wear.

6. Put some of your previous tasks in your profile. You can add media files and other things as long as you do own the rights to the job that you did.

What else you can do

1. When you have your profile spiced up, try connecting it to your other social media platforms. If you use LinkedIn, you can use a linkedin export tool to send out the details to your other social media. Interested clients may see it and they may check you out.

2. Also, be sure that you do a good job. No matter how good your profile is, if the client feedback is generally bad, then most people will probably not hire you.

3. You can also learn some other online skills that you can use which will open up more opportunities for your online career later on. There are a lot of free online lectures out there that you can check.

Improving your online career profile isn’t necessarily hard but be sure to get your point across.
