|While at the University I was a science major and by being one, you right away become very familiar to the scientific method. This scientific method consists of the collection of data through observation, experimentation, the formulation and testing of hypotheses. Well after many many hours of frustration and observation I’ve come to the conclusion that Occam's razor applies here at the Nexus. |
Occam’s razor simply states that when encountering problems that the simplest solution is usually the correct one. The term razor refers to the act of shaving away unnecessary assumptions to get to the simplest explanation. Over the last six to eight weeks with all the changes here at the Nexus and how the home page operates I’ve become very confused with the actions of a very small number of people here and how you play at the Nexus.
When I first came to the Nexus the format of competition happen to be great for me, I’ve raced cars and motor cycles for a hobby and the idea of over coming and improving the quality of ones performance has always appealed to me. Example before the Nexus went live there were down voting all across the site for many people including myself. Well to over come this we simply started to form small alliances with one another to off set the down voting and all the drama that went with it. And that worked great, what you uploaded mostly went to the home page where most of the traffic was to get to the top left corner and say “Yes, I have the best wallpaper today.”
Well with all the resent changes that have taken place to the home page in the last six to eights weeks there would be no more competition like there once was on the home page; now the only competition lays else where. As these changes were taking place and more and more people where posting more pictures on comments and all I thought of was more work just to have a wall on home page. However, it seemed you had to post them because your small words might get lost and over looked in a sea of flashing twinkling images that came with most comments. I to became a picture poster: it wasn’t fun just more collecting to have the right picture for the right occasion. Well it seemed I was spending more time collecting pictures for posting than I was making wallpapers. Well my point here would be you spend more time doing pictures for: thank you, you’re welcome, hello, have a great weekend, have a great week, have a great day, hugs, miss you, thinking of you, goodnight, good morning, good evening, sweet dreams, sending love, showing love, and all the different pictures and gifs you have just for every day talks with your friends here.
Irritation was the normal way here with all the changes and the fact that the site has been unstable just added to that frustration; I finely said I had enough and took a brake. Well when I returned after a week it was the same. Site crashes, little irritations with things not working most of the time and the same drama were still here. I thought if I try to deal with all of this with a bit of humor that might change how I view things here. So from the frustration of myself and others here at the Nexus I started the Nexus Chapter of the Piss and Moan Society or N-PMS. With the aid if a little happy face gif I set out to release some frustration with a bit of humor. This worked for a few days and didn’t change a thing, however it did bring a smile to some people here and that was good. However, I was still irritable and I let it show some to others and made them unhappy. The very drama I disliked so much I became a part of. Well I once read that the rule of friendship means there should be mutual sympathy between them, each supplying what the other lacks and trying to benefit the other, always using friendly and sincere words. I broke that rule.
So how does someone thrive here at the Nexus who loves competition where none exists anymore? Well this is where Occam's razor comes into play because our life her at the Nexus is what our thoughts make it and sometimes the best gain is to lose old ideas that have outlived their usefulness to current facts. So the simplest solution to these problems would be just play for fun and friendship.
