Open the Pod Bay Doors Hal! Outstanding shot of the station from Kubrick"s 2001:Odyssey. I've been pondering the universe a lot this week after watching the JPL Team send final commands to its Cassini spacecraft which caused it to do a high speed death dive into Saturn's atmosphere after performing its astonishing mission. Lord of the Rings! Kudos to the Cassini Spacecraft! Today, Sept 15th 2017, it will perform its last maneuver and complete a death dive into the atmosphere of Saturn! The mission, although working with 30yr old technology, made many astonishing discoveries including the tiny moon Enceledus which harbors a salt water ocean under the ice that may well contain life! This is a wonderful back-lit shot from Cassini's camera which includes the Earth as a tiny dot in the upper left hand corner, very faint, but VERY cool! So, we bade farewell and with all the majestic photos and data, we can be proud of a job well done! Thanks! -Cassandra fav+1 |

So Sad.... Roger was so kind, compassionate, and yet hilarious too! It's trgic to lose someone so special. He always seemed to know when I needed a HUG and was the first member to welcome me to DN and my first fan! I was honored to have Roger in my corner and shall miss him terribly. Yoho National Park! What a great name, eh? It's a Cree Indian expression for awe and wonder. I got lost here once for half a day, as a child, with my little sister! The Park Rangers had to find us and I remember it was the first time I'd ever seen my father cry! We were scolded and smothered with hugs at the same time! Lake O'Hara is just a trail ride away from the Burgess Shale, -a layered stone that captured many exotic fossils of weird extinct sea creatures. Come visit folks! Crystal Reflections! Although I'm not familiar with this particular lake, I've been to MANY just like it! They often call British Columbia "God's Country" and here you can see why! However, I beg to differ, and rate Alberta in that category! LOL (a bit of Provincial rivalry!) With the border running down the backbone of the Rockies you're bound to suffer some neighborly jabs!
