Don\'t miss:Think you know sunset district?\'Dating Game\' host dies at 81Nevius on Google GlassSpike Lee rips gentrificationPromising 1226 Washington2003 09 17 04:00:00 PDT Valencia, Los Angeles County "It was before home video cassettes, so the library had 16mm copies of six of the disney films. And we checked those out on a nightly basis and watched them on a projector in our animation room.I know every frame of those six films. They were bad copies so it\'s like pinocchio had these splices in the monstro section.It\'s http://www.perfettoweb.it/ sort of funny.They\'re still ingrained in my head. "Walt disney died three years before construction started on, but he still haunts this mansion.

There\'s the poster size photo of disney in a hallway, looming over a http://www.perfettoweb.it/ralph-lauren-donne.html small scale model of the college like godzilla descending on tokyo.There\'s the rumor among students, three decades running, that his frozen head lies somewhere beneath the concrete bunker of a campus that houses about 1, 200 students in one building.

But mostly disney lived on through the animators he trained a handful of aging proteges responsible for"Pinocchio," "Fantasia"And"Cinderella"Who came out of retirement one last time in the mid 1970s, gathering together to pass on the secrets to a new generation.

With movies including this summer\'s top box office draw,"Finding nemo,"Merging artistry with 3 d computer technology, it\'s easy to assume that animators such as, from the past.

They\'ll talk about pulling all nighters in an arts school 40 miles north of los angeles that was smaller than some of the local high schools, but still fueled the resurgence of an industry that appeared to be facing its own mortality.

Try as hard as you want it\'s nearly impossible to walk through california institute of the arts without humming the soundtrack to"Fame. "

Established in the early 1970s under the guidance of walt disney\'s brother roy, calarts has just one requirement for admittance to its art, dance, film, music and theater schools:A portfolio or performance.

The college has far more studio spaces than classrooms, with dancers loosening their hamstrings(I want to live forever! )Down the hall from drummers pounding out tribal rhythms(Light up the sky like a flame! )While artists strum guitars(Baby remember my name! )In one of several grassy courtyards.

Lasseter was the second student admitted to the character animation program in its first year, 1975, and his timing was impeccable. One of scores of young animation fans who had been writing to disney through the years, lasseter was a high school senior when he got a letter back suggesting that he submit a portfolio.Accepted immediately, he was blown away to be surrounded with like minded students.Joes and hot wheels from when i was young,"Lasseter said. "You don\'t really show that off to your high school girlfriend or brag about that to your water polo team. But when you get together at calarts, when i was there, everyone was exactly the same. "

Peer bonding is a common theme among young animators at the school., who created"The powerpuff girls"While a calarts student in the early 1990s, was nearly two decades removed from lasseter\'s class but describes an almost identical experience.

"It\'s kind of like the little people conventions,"Mccracken explained. "You don\'t run into a lot of them, but when they get together it\'s like \'ah, finally.\' It\'s kind of like that but with geeky cartoonists. "

There were fewer than 20 students enrolled in each of character animation\'s first two years, but their level of success has been incredible.

Lasseter\'s classmates included director("Edward scissorhands," "The nightmare before christmas"),("The iron giant"Andnext year\'s Pixar entry,"The incredibles") and,who co directed Disney\'s big 1989 comeback film,"The Little Mermaid,"Along with"Aladdin"And"Hercules. "

While it didn\'t take long for the first character animation students to get over being around one another, most of them never got used to the collection of odd looking http://www.perfettoweb.it/ralph-lauren-uomini/black-watch-ralph-lauren-uomo.html septuagenarian men shuffling around the hallway.
