Yellowstone is thawing out, the East Entrance has new waterfalls where the snow melt kisses the road, the Lake is partially frozen and the Elk are having their calves. Spring is here!
Winter season is under way in Yellowstone. Whoo-hoo!
My grandmother has been planning and planting a vegetable garden around our house for the last couple of weeks, and she recently planted some tomato seeds in an old flower pot when the rose bush died. She put it on the porch and went inside; just as she was coming back outside, she caught my cat "fertilizing" the tomato seeds. ^_^
The sun is sparkling on the new fallen snow outside my bedroom window and already I can see the deer have been here.
Took an Ibuprofen and slept for 2 hrs. this afternoon.
One of the best things about living in Yellowstone is the morning wake up call of an elk bugling in the distance. They are amazing creatures, but highly dangerous, especially since we're coming in the elk mating season.
Went out about 2 weeks ago to Lamar Valley in Yellowstone with a group of friends. We saw 2 coyotes, tons of bison, a mouse scurrying across the snow, and lots of gorgeous scenery.
I answered the phone today and someone asked me where the "mud and water volcanoes" were. I have to laugh at that because I work in Yellowstone and still had to take about 5 minutes to figure out what she meant. The mud volcano was easy, but a "water volcano"? Turns out she meant the geysers.
| The wind was too strong for my little car to make it up the mountain to the Upper Terraces. Then around lunch it started to snow.
(sigh)
I'll get up there sometime this winter. |
Saw the constellation of Orion tonight. It was so close you could reach out and touch it.
