silverfang777 commented on the Military wallpaper The Mynarski Lancaster. RCAF 419 SquadronAndy Mynarski was awarded the Victoria Cross for valiant efforts to free tail gunner Brophy as their Lancaster was shot down, only stopping when his own flight gear caught fire. Mynarski died of his injuries. Amazingly, Brophy survived the crash to report Mynarski's courage. Mynarski lies buried in Grave 20 of the CWGC plot in the Méharicourt Communal Cemetery, near Amiens, France. |
