Thanks for the reply. I think it is a rather interesting tree. I am fairly certain that it is a southern yellow pine or a scots pine. The bark is falling off and it is hard to tell. I think lightning must have struck it. I would have loved to see it when it was healthy.

Seems like you are taking it personally. I guess I need to remove the photo then. What kind of tree is it then? I must be really ignorant to nature. Sorry for upsetting you.
