About Me:What are the different types of aesthetic implants?

Aesthetic implants can be classified into several categories: facial implants, breast implants, pectoral and abdominal implants, testicular implants, upper and lower limb implants.

Facial implants: these implants can shape various parts of the face and face such as the forehead, nasal ridge, temples, cheekbones, jaw, lips or chin.
Breast Implants: These can reshape or increase the volume of the breasts in women.
Pectoral and abdominal implants: Pectoral implants for men allow for a toned and curved torso. Abdominal implants, for both men and women, make these muscles visible by removing superficial fat in that area.
Testicular implants: These implants allow restoring the symmetry between the testicles, for example.
Implants for upper and lower limbs: these implants are designed to increase the muscle volume of the limbs. They can be placed in the gluteus maximus, calf, biceps or triceps.

How long does a breast implant last?
The lifespan of a breast implant is generally seven and ten years maximum. However, as a precautionary measure, it is still advisable to perform an annual clinical and morphological examination (ultrasound and mammogram, depending on the case) to detect the appearance of possible abnormalities. This examination becomes all the more essential from the age of 45 onwards.

It should be noted that the new breast prostheses, known as "last generation", are guaranteed for life, but hindsight is not yet sufficient to estimate the true lifespan of these implants.

Regardless of the lifespan of the prosthesis, a surgeon should not replace a prosthesis that does not present abnormalities. A change of prosthesis should only be suggested if there is a problem-such as rupture, deflation, capsular contracture-or if the patient wishes to change the volume of the implant.

Factors that matter when choosing an implant type:

Choice of incision point: The incision point can be periareolar, transaxillary or inframammary.
Peri-areolar: The incision around the nipple is relatively invisible but may result in a loss of sensitivity and the risk of infection or problems with breastfeeding.
Transaxillary: the incision under the armpit allows the surgeon to use less invasive instruments. The procedure will not affect the patient's ability to breastfeed. However, the procedure is more complicated and may result in the implant being incorrectly positioned or even altered at the time of placement.
Inframammary: Access to the implant positioning area is much easier, but the scar in the submammary fold is usually more visible.
Volume: A large volume implant does not necessarily guarantee very large breasts after surgery because the result depends on other factors, such as the patient's figure or morphology. The plastic surgeon is the only one who can determine the best volume of implant to be chosen according to the patient's wishes. The volume will also depend on the weight of the implant.
External texture and tissue adhesion: Breast implants can be smooth-walled or textured-walled. The adhesion of the implant to the surrounding tissue depends on the external texture, which helps to avoid the risk of rotation of the prosthesis, among other things.
Filling Material: The filling material of breast implants can be of two types :
A silicone shell filled with saline: The saline solution is radio-transparent, making the implant more compatible with the screening and diagnosis of breast disease.
A silicone shell filled with silicone gel: The silicone gel is more viscous and less liquid than saline, which allows the implant to remain stable and better retain its shape.
Profile: This is the forward prominence of the implant in relation to the chest wall. Different profiles are available (low profile, medium profile, high profile, very high profile).
