| Polycarbonate sheet, referred to as the PC sheet, is made of polycarbonate polymer extrusion technology. Due to the excellent characteristics of polycarbonate sheets, including high strength and transparency, it is often used to make the twinwall plastic sheet and four wall polycarbonate. PC sheet also has lightweight, weather resistance, super strength, flame retardant, and sound insulation features.
Properties of Polycarbonate Sheet
- After anti-ultraviolet coating treatment, the wear resistance of the PC board can be increased several times, which is similar to glass. Hot forming can be cold-bent into a certain arc without cracks and can be cut or drilled again. Anti-theft and anti shooting PC can be pressed together with glass into a safety window, which can be used in hospitals, schools, libraries, banks, embassies, and prisons. The glass can improve the plate\'s hardness and wear resistance. PC can also be pressed with other PC layers or acrylates for traditional safety applications.
- It can prevent ultraviolet, only some single-layer panel surface turns yellow or hazy under long-term sunlight. It is also suitable for low-temperature resistant materials. The PC board has excellent thermal insulation performance. Under the same thickness, the thermal insulation performance of the PC board is about 16% higher than that of glass, which can effectively block the heat transfer. PC board can effectively reduce building energy consumption and save energy whether it keeps warm in winter or prevents hot air from invading in summer.
- PC sheet has good flame retardancy, does not produce toxic gas when burning, and its smoke concentration is lower than that of wood and paper, so it is determined as a class I flame retardant material, meeting the environmental protection standards. After 30 seconds of combustion, the combustion length of the sample is less than 25 mm, and the combustible gas is decomposed when the hot air reaches 467 ℃. Therefore, it is considered that the fire-fighting performance is qualified.
- It has no reaction to acid, alcohol, juice, and beverage; it also has a certain resistance to gasoline and kerosene, and will not crack or lose light transmission ability within 48 hours after contact. But it has poor chemical corrosion resistance to some chemicals (such as amine, ester, halogenated hydrocarbon, and paint diluent).
- The density of polycarbonate is about 1.29/cm3, which is half as light as that of glass. If a hollow PC board is made, its mass is 1 / 3 of that of plexiglass and 1 / 15-1 / 12 of glass. The hollow PC board has excellent stiffness and can be used as a skeleton component. The lightweight of the polycarbonate makes the construction safer and more convenient, and can greatly save the time and cost of shipping and construction. |
