การเลือกปลูกกลางแจ้ง ปลูกในโรงเรือนแบบปิด หรือปลูกในกรีนเฮ้าส์ ขึ้นอยู่กับวัตถุประสงค์ในการปลูก สภาพแวดล้อม และความเชี่ยวชาญต่างๆ การปลูกกัญชง-กัญชา มีด้วยกัน 3 วิธี ได้แก่
1.ปลูกกลางแจ้ง : ในการปลูกกลางแจ้งเหมือนเป็นปลูกให้เติบโตเป็นไปตามธรรมชาติมีข้อจำกัดที่จะเก็บเกี่ยวได้ปีละครั้งตามแสงในแต่ละฤดู ต้นทุนน้อย มีความเสี่ยงสูงหากผลิตในปริมาณที่มาก
2.โรงเรือนกรีนเฮ้าส์ : ในการปลูกในโรงเรือนกรีนเฮ้าส์ส่วนใหญ่จะใช้แสงธรรมชาติผ่านหลังคาโปร่งแสง คุณสามารถติดตั้งหลอดไฟเพิ่มปริมาณแสงได้ ต้นทุนไม่สูงเท่าโรงเรือนแบบปิด และดูแลง่ายกว่าการปลูกกลางแจ้ง
3.โรงเรือนแบบปิด : ใช้แสงไฟในการเจริญเติบโต ไม่มีแมลงศัตรูพืช แต่ต้นทุนในการสร้างโรงเรือนและติดตั้งระบบควบคุมสูงมาก สามารถผลิตได้จำนวนมาก ปลูกได้หลายรอบใน 1 ปี เป็นต้น
