Don't just look at the obvious when you are considering a fitness routine. You don't need to go to the gym to lose weight. Find an activity that you truly enjoy. This will keep you motivated, especially when you are first starting out. If you want to build better abs, don't workout your abs daily. Although they can recover much quicker than other muscles, psychologically they are no different than other muscles. You will get better results if you take time between ab workouts. Try to exercise them only about two or three days in a week. Lifting weights is an excellent way to be fit. If you haven't lifted weights before, you should start out with something light, such as a one pound dumbbell. With the dumbbell, do a set of ten lifts or reps. If you can lift the dumbbell very easily, then you should move up to a heavier weight until you find one that provides enough resistance without being too heavy. Pack a pair of comfortable shoes and a change of clothes in your car or briefcase. You'll always have the ability to switch out your dress clothes for clothes suitable for walking or perhaps even running. That way you can take the time to walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator, walk to lunch instead of driving, and maybe even take a quick run.
