How are you doing? We often brush over this question and move on to talk about other things. Rarely do we give a genuine answer. "Fine" is often our scapegoat for the struggles within. The real answer in most cases should be, "do you have time\'? Nobody expects you to start narrating your struggles on that first interaction.
How then do we get along the toughest of times and days if the world is quickly moving forward? Who cares? Before you start looking for love outside, look within. Before you step out and interact with the world, talk to yourself. Ask yourself the question you long to hear. How are you doing? Be genuine with your answers.
If you find even the slightest sign of stress, sadness, doubt, pain, or negative emotions, stop and address it. You may not have the solutions right away. However, acknowledging that you are not okay is a great step ahead. Your next step is to explore healthy options for dealing with your stress.
One of them is celebrating the tiniest bits of joy you find in life. Look around you. Even a blossoming flower can be a good reason to smile and celebrate. Little gifts that people share should bring you joy.
Instead of looking for joy outside, bring joy to others. Be willing to attend to the pains of others. Any sign of sadness should move your heart to be kind and show love to that person. Give more than you expect to receive. It is the joy of life; giving.
