A poker game is played with a deck of cards, but the kind of game will depend on what is decided before the game starts.

A standard poker game has five card hands, where each card hand is ranked by its highest-valued card. The order of hands in a standard poker game goes as follows:

Pair - two cards of the same rank
Three of a Kind - three cards of the same rank
Straight - five cards in sequence without any gaps
Flush - five cards of the same suit
Full House - three-of-a-kind and two pair
Four-of-a Kind or Quad (4) - four cards with the same rank
Straight Flush (5) - five consecutive cards with all suits matching.
