We know this bird as the Lammergeier or Lammergeyer - the Bearded Vulture. This bird is found in Africa (as far south as where I live), Europe and Asia. It's an odd-looking bird.

We have the Purple-crested Turaco, (Tauraco porphyreolophus) in our 'neck of the woods'. They are beautiful, shy and quite noisy birds.
