Espresso ist ein italienisches Wort und bedeutet übersetzt "schnell". Diese Kaffeekreation wurde im 19. Jahrhundert in Italien erfunden und ist seitdem zu einem wichtigen Bestandteil der Kaffeekultur geworden.
Die Geschichte des Espresso lässt sich bis in die Zeit des 19. Jahrhunderts zurückverfolgen. Es wird oft gesagt, dass der erste Espresso 1884 in Turin, Italien hergestellt wurde. Aus der Not heraus wurde das Getränk erfunden, da es in der schnell wachsenden Stadt einen hohen Bedarf an schnellen Koffein-Stoßen gab.
