Journal for AquaRoach Journal for AquaRoach

I had received my first computer back in 2004. I was a teenager so of course computer games was something I enjoyed. I used the alias "Aqua Roach" actually since the beginning, Roach being a nickname I was given years before that, I just added the Aqua part because "Roach" was already taken anywhere I went.

I had a love for aviation and combat jets, so I played games offline like Ace Combat, but then I found communities that catered to specific games like Flight Simulator and A/C. As I got more involved in them I started working with Photoshop, creating forum "signatures", then eventually forum styles (CSS) and then complete websites. I freelanced around communities and helped a lot of different people with graphic design. I also helped in retexturing aircraft in games as well, working with some of the more well-known-at-the-time companies such as Alphasim. In due time I ran my own website called "FSescortfighters" that catered to combat escort missions for players in Flightsim from 2007-2009.

Eventually making abstract art caught my eye and I started learning the secrets of the trade. It became more of a pastime for me and I often imbedded a message in them relating to how I was feeling. Very typical of an angst teen.

After around 2011 I started hyper-focusing on my life, and my career. I stepped away from the online community for almost the next decade. My passion for cars never wavered, I started building old and new cars and eventually found another community online catering to it. (TCCA/TSOC). From around 2014-2016 I started doing graphic design for them again, but between working, school, building a car, and trying to help with their website, it just became too much of a drain.

After 2016 I\'ve mostly been off the internet completely. I\'ve noticed my old forums I used to frequent going down one by one, taking away the memories held in them. It is a bit sad to see.

For the next almost 6 years I was just hyper-focused on work. And though I\'ve come a long way, I left behind so many things that defined me and the things that I loved doing. Recently I\'ve picked back up my old hobbies, even formed a new band, started going out fishing more, and eventually it lead me back to just tinkering on the computer.

Luckily, I don\'t think I\'ll pick back up skateboarding!
