| Semi-Retired Clinical Psychologist with an intermediate knowledge level of Windows platform software & PC hardware ... in other words, just enough skills & experience to really create horrifying chaos to my system periodically regardless of noble intentions :-) . In an earlier incarnation, I stumbled into, with no training or educational background whatsoever, an advisory-research position with the Dept. of Defense, on both Local & Wide Area Networks ... wasn't my charm that got me there, but the simple fact that personal computing in it's post-zygote state fascinated me so I read every ad in every computer oriented publication I could find & would call up the vendors & chat with them ... at a transition time where the in-house, academically trained & experienced folk were virtually wholly mainframe grounded & seemed to have trouble stepping outside that box or paradigm. That lead me to further stumble into, accidentally, becoming the 1st clinical psychologist to use PC's to do real-time video-conference psychotherapy sessions with clients ... though it was years later I found that I held that distinction. Now, whenever I stop by for a while at my "home port" city ... mostly to change-out & refurbish seasonal long-term camping gear before launching the hemisphere's North or South Pacific coastline ... I love to putter around with my PC creatively, with graphics plus the photos & videos I've made along my travel pathways. This site, like a host of similar sites, is an exponentially expanding & evolving banquet table that displays the wonderful Creativity of so many! It's yet another tool in the fight to eradicate the 3 Big Lies that have plagued human culture for far too long: (1) "I can't Sing."; (2) "I can't Dance."; and, (3) "I can't make anything Artistic.". Most of the traveling I do now for 6-9 months of the year is to extremely isolated villages of ethnic cultures, so far off-grid that it often takes a week to backpack to reach them, which obviously is way off from connectivity by any means with the Web, but I still tote my Notebook PC (with extra long-life battery!), to both display the Creativity of other folk & to provide a n alternate tool for folk in the villages to try-out as mediums for their Creativity. Win-win-win, all around! Rvery time I see a wallpaper or collection of them, that captures my fancy, it's simultaneously an affirmation of the Best of humanity, the inherent Potential we all share, & the Connection that's the comon bond every human has with every other human alive, everywhere. Thanks, folk. |
